Among the six Goswamis who not only founded the holy city of Vrindavan but also firmly established the teachings of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Srila Gopal Bhatta Goswami was one. Born around 1500 AD in South India, he received a divine vision from Mahaprabhu in a dream, where he was blessed to witness all of the Lord’s Navadvip pastimes. One of the Saligram Shilas he fervently worshipped daily transformed overnight into the Radha Raman deity in Vrindavan.
The self-manifested deity from the Saligram Shila resides in a 500-year-old heritage temple, known for the highest standards of worship in Vrindavan. Established by Gopal Bhatta Goswami, the Radha Raman Temple enshrines this beautiful Deity, whose mystic smile radiates from the Shila. The samadhi of Gopal Bhatta is located next to the appearance place of Sri Radha Raman in the temple.
The 38th generation of the Goswami Kul lineage of Sri Radha Raman Temple, Vaishnavacharya Shree Abhishek Goswami, lovingly called ‘Jai Jai Sri,’ carries forward the powerful spiritual heritage. He speaks of Krishna’s pastimes with the gopis and gopas, and also leads workshops on profound spiritual topics. Maharaj Sri is often seen feeding peacocks in Vrindavan and guiding his disciples through the challenging terrain of the Kailash Parikrama and other pilgrimage sites.
